Building the whole person through music
Thank you for taking the time to review my Education portfolio. This portfolio contains many of the items I have prepared during my pre-service teaching including philosophy, available curricular materials, audio/video projects, and more.
Philosophy
It is the role of the school system to prepare all students to become well-rounded citizens ready to make a difference in their changing world. As one of the major forms of cultural expression in our society, music plays a large part in all students’ coming of age and needs to be an active part of their curriculum. Through a co-curricular process that includes opportunities that expand the development of all participants, students must be provided the adequate instruction, equipment, and resources needed to succeed as developing musicians.
Music is one of the most effective means to developing young adults into citizens of the world ready to leave a positive impact – it is the role of the music teacher to inspire students to use music as a tool for cultural and personal expression while using co-curricular activities to develop all parts of the human spirit.
